Ch Laurel Hill's Kastle Gambler CD CGC TT was a Bernese Mountain Dog - a breed I have owned and loved for many years now. Gambler left us for the Rainbow Bridge yesterday (December 30, 2007) - apparently he just lay down & went to sleep and never woke up. A grand old man will be missed!
Gambler and I have had many fun adventures - > he was owner trained & owner handled for his entire competition career, attaining his conformation championship (AKC Ch), his basic obedience (CD) title, a Canine Good Citizen certificate, and an ATTS TT title. While showing Gambler to his championship, we won a 5 pt major in Greenville, SC at a BMDCA supported entry show and then, two weeks later, he won a 5 pt major when he went Winners Dog at the PVBMDC in Maryland. Prior to these 2 shows, I had never handled a dog to a 5 pt major - what a high!
Gambler has been the 'man of the house' here - the primary guardian of the place. He has been all I every hoped or dreamed he might be when I purchased him - all that and more. He definitely has been an outstanding ambassador for the breed.
So whereas most of this web site is focused on my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel interests and the Cavaliers I own, I thought I should include the 'Old Man', too.
